The Priests of Saint-Sulpice of Montreal – Province of Canada form one of the three Provinces of the Society of Priests of Saint-Sulpice along with those of France and the United States.

Under Canon Law, it follows the Constitutions of the Society of the Priests of Saint Sulpice, adopted by the General Assembly and approved by the Vatican Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life. Under Civil Law, it is a corporation under the terms of the Religious Corporations Act of the Government of Quebec.

The Province of Canada is structured according to articles 100 to 126 of the Constitutions. It is governed, administered, and animated by a Provincial Council, composed of the Provincial Superior and four Consultors.

Collaborators

This Council is assisted by various collaborators, particularly a Provincial Treasurer – also called Provincial Procurator -, a Provincial Secretary, one or more persons responsible for vocations and initial and ongoing formation, especially the one in charge of the Franco-Canadian Solitude, who are appointed by the Council.

Provincial Superiors

Furthermore, as provided for in article 125 of the Constitutions, the Provincial Delegation of the Priests of Saint-Sulpice of Canada in Colombia for the Latin American region has existed since 1971. Through this Delegation, the Province completes its general administrative framework in service of its members, the bishops who request collaboration, and the dioceses where the Province is present and to which it provides permanent or occasional services.
