Communication Theology
Conference in English, in person or online
The talk will start with 4 short videos that will remind the audience to reflect on how digital media affect their daily life, then post a question on how to respond to these challenges and opportunities of the digital world by understanding the very meaning of Communication.
By explaining the meaning of communication as sharing, gift, or exchange, the audience will know that communication is not necessarily referred to as media or technology, but it is a gift of God and a basic element of human existence. Humans are communicating beings because God is a self-communicating God. The Trinity is itself a perfect unity of communication and communion, and the Trinitarian communication reaches out to the creature through Revelation and more perfectly communicates its nature through Incarnation in the person of Jesus Christ. As the perfect communicator of God, Jesus communicates God to men throughout his whole life, and he also sends out his disciples, the Church, to continue this communication through her ministry and mission in the world. The Trinity, Revelation, Incarnation, and the Church are the 4 basic elements of Communication Theology, which is not attempting to « baptize » theology with communication technology or media but it is to understand the whole theology from the perspective of communication. If theology is the study of God, communication theology is to study God who is communication.
The talk will conclude with a discussion on Communication Spirituality, with a perfect example of Mary, the Mother of Communication.
