SEMINÁRIO MAIOR REGIONAL MARIA MÃE DA IGREJA – CAMPO GRANDE

The Major Regional Seminary Mary Mother of the Church welcomes seminarians from the seven dioceses of the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. The initial training period (three years of philosophy and four years of theology), rooted in Jesus, seeks to form the seminarian as a man of faith, called to the priestly ministry, in the integrity of the following dimensions: Human-Affective, Community (forming the man capable of forming a community); Spiritual-Vocational (living the experience of the encounter and permanence with Jesus who calls us); Pastoral-Missionary (pastoral action in communities which pushes us to go beyond our borders) and Intellectual-Academic (in dialogue with culture to explain our faith).

Two new realities enrich the formative experience: the philosophy and theology seminarians live in the same house, which has fostered the feeling of belonging between the different dioceses, the richness of gifts and charisms at the service of the seminary and the maturity to assume the presence of the other. Also the presence of the new training team (three Sulpician priests and a priest from the archdiocese of Campo Grande), who assume the pedagogy of the Society of the Priests of St. Sulpice (a society of diocesan priests dedicated to the discernment of vocations, to the initial and continuing formation of priests; Paris, 1642).

The Seminary, in order to train pastors with a face capable of responding to the pastoral needs of the EMS, wishes to train according to the influence of the Spirit, so that living for God in Jesus Christ, the future pastors assume the features of Jesus the Good Shepherd. In this, it is fundamental that as men of faith, they open themselves to grace in their daily commitment to respond to the invitation of the Master of the harvest.

It is the responsibility of Christian communities to pray for the Seminary, which they must feel as their property, as a reality that belongs to them, since it is there that their future pastors are formed.
